Cloze Test Konu Özeti

Cloze test, bir paragraf içindeki numaralı boşlukların doldurulmasını isteyen soru türüdür. Boşluklar kelime bilgisi, zaman uyumu, edat, bağlaç, bağlayıcı zarf (however, therefore, instead) ve sıfat cümleciği gibi farklı konuları ölçer. Bu nedenle cloze test, hem kelime ve dil bilgisini hem de metnin bütününü kavrama becerisini aynı anda ölçen karma bir soru türü olarak görülür ve düzenli pratikle hızla gelişir.

Önce parçanın tamamını hızlıca okuyup genel konuyu ve anlatım zamanını belirlemek gerekir. Sonra her boşluk için yalnızca o cümleye değil, önceki ve sonraki cümleye de bakılmalıdır; çünkü bağlaç ve bağlayıcı zarf soruları iki cümle arasındaki ilişkiyi ölçer. Boşluğa seçeneği yerleştirdikten sonra cümleyi baştan okumak, zaman ve anlam uyumunu kontrol etmenin en güvenli yoludur. YDT'de genellikle iki cloze parçası ve toplam on soru bulunur. Bilmen Gerekenler

  • Parçanın anlatım zamanını belirle: tarihsel bir konu çoğunlukla geçmiş zaman, genel bir gerçek geniş zaman ister.
  • Bağlayıcı zarfların anlamını iyi öğren: however (ancak), therefore (bu nedenle), instead (bunun yerine), moreover (ayrıca), in fact (aslında).
  • Edat kalıplarını ezberle: be linked to, depend on, result in, contribute to, consist of.
  • Despite/in spite of isimle, although/even though cümleyle kullanılır.
  • Örnek veren 'such as' isimden önce gelir; 'for example' genellikle cümle başında virgülle kullanılır.
  • İsmi niteleyen boşlukta sıfat cümleciği ya da kısaltılmış yapı olabilir: memories formed during the day.
  • Boşluğu doldurduktan sonra cümleyi tam olarak yeniden oku.

Sık Yapılan Hatalar

  • Sadece boşluğun bulunduğu cümleyi okuyup önceki cümleyle kurulan zıtlık ya da sonuç ilişkisini gözden kaçırmak.
  • Sebep bildiren (because of, owing to) ve zıtlık bildiren (despite) edatları karıştırmak.
  • Parçanın genel zamanını dikkate almadan tek bir cümleye göre zaman seçmek.
  • Olumsuz cümlelere özgü 'either/neither' sözcüklerini olumlu cümlede kullanmak.
